Household Chemical Collection Event
A one-day household chemical collection will be held at the Banterra Center (former SIU Arena), south parking lot on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Illinois residents can safely drop-off waste at the site from 8am – 3pm by appointment only.

Older Adults Now Able to Receive Additional Dose of Updated COVID-19 Vaccine
On Wednesday, February 28th, 2024, the CDC director endorsed the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ (ACIP) recommendation for adults ages 65 years and older to receive an additional updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine dose. The recommendation acknowledges the increased risk of severe disease from COVID-19 in older adults, along with the currently available data on vaccine effectiveness.
JCHD has Moderna and Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines available by appointment Monday -Friday from 8:30am-3:30pm, with additional hours until 5:30pm on Tuesdays. Appointments are required and can be made here or by calling 618-684-3143 ext. 150.
